Earth and Mineral Sciences

The Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS) discipline at Penn State Altoona offers courses in Earth Sciences (EARTH), Geography (GEOG), Geosciences (GEOSC), Meteorology (METEO), and Soil Science (SOILS). These courses support a number of degree programs at the Penn State Altoona and University Park campuses.

The discipline also represents and serves the broad interest of students pursuing undergraduate degrees in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS) at University Park. The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences offers 14 undergraduate degrees and 20 minors. Students at Penn State Altoona pursuing a degree within EMS complete two years of course work at Altoona and then transfer to University Park. Students interested in pursuing a degree within EMS should contact Mr. Harold Hayford at hsh1@psu.edu.
