Alumni Weekend Guest List Spans Bathhouse U to Penn State Altoona
Penn State Altoona alumni from around the country journeyed to central Pennsylvania in early October for a festive weekend of social and educational activities enhanced by tradition and nostalgia.
Alumni Weekend, which included the second Pioneer Reunion and inaugural Lion Ambassador Reunion, was highlighted by the All-Alumni Welcome Reception and Pioneer Alumni Induction Ceremony; tailgate parties at University Park and in Aaron Building; Alumni Institute lectures led by the college’s faculty; campus tours; and farewell brunch.
Six Pioneers—defined as alumni who completed their Penn State education fifty or more years ago—were recognized for their special status during an induction ceremony in Slep Student Center. Chancellor and Dean Lori J. Bechtel-Wherry presented specially crafted medallions to the Pioneers in recognition of their loyalty and devotion to Penn State and Penn State Altoona. Six Pioneers who received their medallions last year also attended the ceremony.
Alumni and their spouses and guests traveled from regions across the country to participate in Alumni Weekend. The event attracted alumni from California, Florida, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia.
