Thanksgiving Greetings from the Director
The Thanksgiving holiday provides the citizens of our great nation with opportunities to reflect on what they cherish most in their lives and the circumstances that allow personal goals to be realized and dreams fulfilled.
My team will attest that I regularly begin a discussion with the words, “I am so thankful.” Like so many others, I am thankful first and foremost for my family, which I dearly love. My family provides me with endless joy, and I treasure time spent with each and every one of them.
I am thankful for my extended family, which includes my team in Development and Alumni Relations and all the alumni and friends of Penn State Altoona who contribute to the advancement of our college’s mission through their philanthropy, leadership, and service. Since my appointment as director in 2003, I have met many wonderful people who I proudly regard now as friends. In my executive role, I have attempted to build relationships for Penn State Altoona. The truth is that those same relationships have greatly enriched my life.
I am thankful for the responsibilities entrusted to me by Penn State. I hope my love and loyalty to our University—it’s my alma mater too!—are evident to all who interact with me on a professional level. It has been said that if you find a job that you love, you will never work another day in your life. Well, I found that job.
I cannot conclude this column without acknowledging my appreciation for my team. Again, they will confirm that I never miss an opportunity, in public or private, to express my gratitude for their important contributions to the success of our strategic mission. Each of my nine colleagues in Development and Alumni Relations is special to me. Our readers who are parents will appreciate this. My team members are all different, but I respect and admire each one the same, just as I love all my children equally.
Finally, I am thankful for the technology that allows me to communicate with you through this medium. If there is one impression imparted by IvyLink, I hope it is this: Penn State Altoona values its relationships with our alumni and friends.
On behalf of my team, I extend to you and your family heartfelt best wishes for the happiest of Thanksgivings!
N. Susan Woodring
