A Valentine from the Director
Happy Valentine’s Day! Not so very long ago, the only way to express a sentiment to that special someone on Valentine’s Day was to send a card through U.S. Mail or place a telephone call.
Now, it is possible to text and place a message on Facebook. Through the wonders of technology, we can even deliver the message face to face (sort of) on Skype. On this special day, I’ve opted to communicate my heartfelt appreciation for Penn State Altoona alumni through IvyLink.
It is hard for me to believe that the inaugural issue of this electronic newsletter was distributed one year ago this month. Indeed, where does time go?
In the span of one calendar year, we have strengthened our relationship with our proud graduates by building and fortifying another bridge to connect you with your alma mater. It is always a joy to hear from our alumni, and IvyLink has been a conduit for countless inquiries and updates.
From class notes and contest entries to personal correspondence and humorous anecdotes, the flow of news and notes has been constant ... and most welcome. The start of IvyLink’s second year brings renewed commitment from my team to find novel ways to engage and inform, to enlighten and entertain. We want IvyLink to be a fun diversion for you. On this day, I think it is most appropriate to describe IvyLink as “a labor of love” for everyone involved in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.
Our goal is to make IvyLink, like many things in life, even better with age. The one thing that will not change is our effort to maximize your engagement with our college.
In lieu of chocolates and flowers, I send to you my gratitude for your interest in IvyLink and solemn promise that our office will remain forever faithful to our mission of service and outreach.
Again, Happy Valentine’s Day to you and all your loved ones!
With “sweet” regards,
N. Susan Woodring
Director of Development and Alumni Relations
