Donald and Nancy
Devorris’ philanthropic support of Penn State Altoona was celebrated
during the official dedication of the Devorris Downtown Center in late April.
The Center, located at the corner of 12th Avenue and 15th Street, is home to
the college’s Continuing Education and Training Office, Penn State Altoona’s
popular Film Series, and day, evening, and weekend classes.

aspire but only a select few attain. A world-renowned physicist, he is
regarded as a leading authority on time travel. Fascinating research has
been accompanied by fame and professional acclaim, but the motivating
factor that led Mallett to pursue three degrees in physics was deeply
personal.

Penn State Altoona Trustee Matching Scholarship Endowed in Honor of Distinguished Faculty Member
Through the generous philanthropic support of colleagues, family, and
friends of Penn State Altoona faculty member Dr. Athleen J. Stere, a $50,000
Matching Trustee Scholarship has been endowed at the college in her name. The
creation of the scholarship was announced today by Dr. Lori J. Bechtel,
Chancellor of Penn State Altoona, during a tribute to Dr. Stere in celebration
of her 85th birthday and over four decades of service to the University.

Alumni Fellow John R. Hoover Delivers Penn State Altoona Commencement Address
John R. “Jack” Hoover, a 1951 Penn State graduate and 2002 Alumni Fellow,
delivered the keynote address during Penn State Altoona’s 2005 Fall Commencement
Ceremony in the Stephen A. Adler Athletic Complex. Associate and baccalaureate
degrees were conferred to approximately 140 students, the largest number of
graduates in a Fall Commencement Ceremony since Penn State Altoona became a
four-year college in 1997.

Penn State Altoona 2005 Alumni Fellow: Perry Geib
As a recipient of the 2005 Alumni Fellow Award, Perry L. Geib has joined a distinguished group of Penn State alumni who have been recognized as leaders in their fields and notable contributors to society and their communities. Geib was honored recently at a reception at Penn State Altoona.
