Examples of Student Internships

Environmental Studies provides students with a broad base of knowledge about the environment based in social sciences, humanities, and physical sciences. As students choose their own specific area of interest, though, each major is encouraged to complete a real world internship. Here are a few examples of internships that our students completed:

  • Blair County Wildlife Rehabilitation: animal rescue and care
  • Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT): monitoring turtle crossings, bat populations, conducting environmental assessments
  • Clearwater Conservancy
  • Clearfield County Conservation District
  • Shavers Creek Environmental Center
  • National Park Service: Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site
  • Powdermill Biological Station
  • Mountain Research, Inc.: environmental testing laboratory
  • Aquatic Environment Consultants
  • Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
  • Colorado Environmental Coalition
  • AMD and Art, Office of Surface Mining
