Patterned after the FastStart program at the University Park campus,
FastStart Altoona is sponsored by the Office of Institutional Equity and
Diversity and was developed through the collaboration of many offices across the
Altoona and University Park campuses.
Through this program, a mentoring triad of a
faculty/staff member, an alum, and students is formed. There are no demands
built into the project. Participants may take advantage of scheduled programs
and activities, on or off campus events, or pursuits of their own. Participants
set their own parameters for involvement. Some may choose to develop a close,
long-term relationship, others simply may "be there" as needed. It's like any
relationship-it's up to the people involved.
