The HDFS Student Association
Formed in the fall and spring of the 2006-2007 school year, this organization is open to all. As its mission it plans to provide a forum for HDFS majors, and others who share similar interests to have some fun together, and to create opportunities to talk about careers in the field, meet with alumni, or others who work in Human Services, as well as engaging in some community service activities. The faculty advisor is Lee Ann De Reus, who can be reached as lad12@psu.edu. This year the President is Lori Stangl, who can be reached at las138@psu.edu.

Kappa Omicron Nu, National Honor Society
Penn State Altoona is the home of the Nu Kappa Chapter of Kappa Omicron Nu a National Honor Society for students and professionals in family studies and consumer sciences. Students with an outstanding academic record (gpa greater than 3.25) are nominated for membership when they have completed 45 credits (usually the spring term of the Sophomore year). As there is also a chapter at University Park, students who are inducted into KON while at Altoona, are automatically members if they transfer to UP.
