This page is specifically designed to help orient new staff and faculty at Penn State Altoona. Upon hire, there are numerous items that need your attention.   2. Parking
    If your supervisor has not already made arrangements for parking, contact Police Services at 814-949-5221. Go to the Police Services building to secure your parking pass. You will need your drivers license and vehicle registration.

  3. Penn State I.D. Card
    Contact Housing & Food Services at 814-949-5713. The Housing & Food Services Office is located in Port Sky Cafe.

  4. Library
    Before you can take advantage of library resources, you must register at the library. Be sure to take your Penn State ID card.

  5. Computers
    If your supervisor has not already requested a computer for you, contact Information Technology at 814-949-5356.

  6. Phones/Voicemail
    A direct line telephone number may already have been requested by your supervisor. If not, contact Jennifer Reed at 814-949-5019 to request a direct number. You will need to know your office room number and whether you will be sharing an office with another employee. For help with your phone and voicemail, call Jim Sposito at 814-949-5277.

  7. Benefits Enrollment
    1. You must enroll for your benefits within 30 days of hire. This is done on the web.
    2. Go to https://ohr.psu.edu/essic/index.cfm
    3. Complete enrollment online.  If you quit in mid-session, you can return later and finish enrolling.  Make sure you enroll within 30 days of your date of hire.

  8. Penn State Access Account/User ID/Secure ID
    You must obtain an Access Account to enroll for benefits online and to access software. If you have not already been issued a user ID (required to access any Penn State computer-generated data or system) or a secure ID (required to access secure data screens; not all employees will be issued a secure ID), discuss the issuance of a user ID with your supervisor or administrative assistant, as appropriate. Your supervisor or administrative assistant will submit a request to the computer center.

  9. Business Cards
    Contact Chrissy Blatt at 814-949-5021 to order business cards.

  10. Purchasing Card
    This should be requested for you by your supervisor
    Training on use is provided by the Bursars Office.

  11. Mail/Copying

    Mail/Copying services are available at the Switchboard/Information office located in the Smith Building.

  12. Supplies
    General supplies are available at the switchboard. See one of the administrative assistants there for help.

  13. E-Mail
    If an email address has not been requested by your supervisor, contact Information Technology at 814-949-5356.

  14. Keys
    Your supervisor will request the necessary keys.

  15. IBIS & ISIS Accounts/Secure ID's
    If you have not already been issued a user ID (required to access any Penn State computer-generated data or system) or a secure ID (required to access secure data screens; not all employees will be issued a secure ID), discuss the issuance of a user ID with your supervisor or administrative assistant, as appropriate. Your supervisor or administrative assistant will submit a request to the computer center.

  16. Tour of Campus
    If you would like a tour of the campus, contact Admissions at 814-949-5466.

  17. Eudora/Netscape/Computer Training
    Contact Information Technology at 814-949-5356.

  18. Nametag
    Send a written request to Cindy Mighells in the Office of University Relations or e-mail her at with the exact spelling of your name and the title that you would like to appear on the nameplate. These nameplates are gold and magnetized to wear on your clothing.
