College NewsARTISTIC WORKSPeter Buck (part-time lecturer in Music) has completed The Ulysses Sonata for Viola and Piano. It was inspired by the Tennyson poem Ulysses. Deighton will perform The Ulysses Sonata at Penn State University Park, Duquesne University, and the University of Kansas in spring 2007. Nancy Brassington (part-time lecturer in Visual Arts) has exhibited her work in the following exhibitions: 2006 Art of the State, Pennsylvania, 39th annual juried exhibition, The William Penn Museum, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, painting; 2006 Images, Robeson Gallery, juried mid-Atlantic regional fine arts exhibition, painting; Biennial 2006, Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art, Loretto, Pennsylvania, painting. Robin Reese (assistant professor of Theatre Arts) presented her play, Mamma Was An Andalusian Jet Skier: Or How To Breed Heterosexuals at the Association for Theatre in Higher Education conference, Chicago. She also taught a three-week intensive workshop synthesizing modern and post-modern acting techniques, creating a new method for acting, directing, and training actors, including undergraduate and graduate students as well as professional actors and directors. A Los Angeles filmmaker is creating a documentary about Reese's training and developing technique. The film is due out in 2007. James White (part-time lecturer in Music) performed the baritone solo selections from the Voices of the Holocaust with the State College Choral Society. White also was the baritone soloist for the official recording of Voices. |
