Ivyside Pride! Concert Features Tribute to Irving Berlin
Penn State Altoona's musical theatre ensemble, Ivyside Pride!, presented "100 Years of Irving Berlin!," in April. Greggory Brandt, an Altoona native, serves as director for Ivyside Pride! Brandt notes, "With a life that spanned more than 100 years and a catalogue that boasted more than 1,000 songs, Irving Berlin epitomized Jerome Kern's famous quote that 'Irving Berlin has no place in American music—he is American music.'"
Comprised of sixteen students, Ivyside Pride! offers aspiring singers and dancers the opportunity to develop their talents. The ensemble explores the finest of American musical composers. During the year, Ivyside Pride! represents the college at special events and functions on campus, in the community, and throughout the region.
