Walter Joyce '54, '56g of Strongsville, Ohio, was among over forty World War II veterans who received Altoona Area High School diplomas during a special ceremony last fall. The ceremony honored veterans who had interrupted their high school education to serve their country. (Penn State Altoona 1950-51)

Richard B. Groskin, Ph.D. '67, of Wilson, N.C., was appointed Dean of Barton College's School of Behavioral Sciences in August 2000. Previously, he had served as Resident Criminologist for the U.S. Congress for 23 years and then as Director of the Criminal Justice program at the University of Toledo. (Penn State Altoona 1963-65)

Robert B. Guyer '67g, of State College, Pa., has been employed by Penn State for more than 27 years, and currently serves as a senior research technician in Food Science. Last December, his daughter, Holly, graduated from Penn State and his son, Robert, graduated from Penn College of Technology. (Penn State Altoona 1963-65)

David L. Albert '71, of Denver, Colo., retired from the Air Force in January 2000 after 30 years of service. He currently is employed by United Airlines as a Fleet Technical Instructor on the B-727. (Penn State Altoona 1968-69)

Mike Fidanza, Ph.D. '87, '89g, of Downingtown, Pa., has been appointed Assistant Professor of Horticulture—Turfgrass Ecology at Penn State Berks Campus (Berks-Lehigh Valley College). His research/teaching appointment began in Fall 2000. (Penn State Altoona 1983-85)

Kiki Shaw '89 and husband, David Budzinski '89, of Boothwyn, Pa., are expecting their third child in June. They have a daughter, Storey, and son, Jack. (Penn State Altoona: Kiki, 1985-87; David, 1986-87)

George Sarra '90, of Mill Creek, Pa., recently was promoted to Coordinator of Continuing Professional Education in the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit 11. He is responsible for offering Pennsylvania Department of Education-approved credit courses and activities to personnel in the Intermediate Unit, as well as school district teachers and administrators in a four-county area. Renee (Drass) Weidlich '91, of Altoona, and husband, Frank, celebrated the birth of their second child, son Hunter Reid, on February 28, 2000. Their daughter, Alyssa Janelle, is 2 years of age. (Penn State Altoona 1987-89)

Elizabeth A. (Miller) Saylor '92, of Altoona, received a Master's of Education degree from Penn State in August, 2000. Elizabeth and husband, Bryan, celebrated the birth of their first child, Natalie, on Nov. 10, 1999. (Penn State Altoona 1988-90)

Brian L. Keagy '94, '99g, of Altoona, has accepted the position of Assistant Principal in the Moshannon Valley School District. Previously a mathematics teacher at Hollidaysburg Area High School, Brian married Renetta Douglas in 1995. The couple's first child, Alexis Mackenze, was born on May 6, 2000. Kimberly (Shelow) Plummer '94, of Bellefonte, Pa., and husband, Todd '89, celebrated the birth of daughter, Sela Brooke, on October 8, 2000. (Penn State Altoona 1990-92, Kimberly; 1982-84, Todd)

Susan (Otto) Grassmyer '95a, and husband, James '95a, '97, of Altoona, celebrated the birth of their second daughter, Dayton Sue. The couple also has a daughter named Rio Jamie. (Penn State Altoona, both)

Beth A. Hoover '95, of Altoona, and husband, Ross, celebrated the birth of their third son, Ethan Gregory, on March 13, 2001. (Penn State Altoona 1991-93)

Bryan F. Martin '97 and Theresa M. Reigh '97, of York, Pa., were married on October 2, 1999, in Bellwood, Pa. They note that Theresa is enjoying her job as a teacher's aide at Manito Academy. (Penn State Altoona: Bryan, 1995-97; Theresa, 1994-96)

Danielle M. Flenner '99, of Saxton, Pa., works as a therapeutic support staff technician and is considering returning to Penn State for an Education Certificate in physical education. (Penn State Altoona 1995-96)
