Excellence in Education: Continuing Education and Training


Penn State's Office of Continuing Education recently selected its awards for excellence in education throughout the entire Penn State system. Penn State Altoona's Continuing Education and Training office was honored with a substantial number of these awards.

Downtown Conference Center Manager Teryl Shields received the Mentor Award for assistance with adult learners and Program Aide Angela Harbst received the Making Life Better award for service to the community.

Staff members Jeff Covino, Sherri McGregor, Teryl Shields, Pat Wood, Michele Bettwy, Michele Kennedy, Lucinda Royal, Angela Harbst and Lois Mielnik were also honored with the Best Quality Award for developing procedures and guidelines within their office. Staff assistant Lucinda Royal, along with representatives from other Penn State locations, won the Team Award for developing the first Campus CE Support Staff Professional Development Program.
