Fall Commencement 2007

Penn State Altoona held its fall 2007 commencement ceremony Friday, December 21 in the Adler Athletic Complex, at which more than 125 students received their Penn State degrees.

Perry L. Geib gave the commencement address. A 2002 Penn State graduate, Geib founded ATSIM, Inc., of Annapolis, Maryland, in 1989 to provide software modeling services to the flight simulation industry. ATSIM, Inc., has been instrumental in the design of dozens of simulator programs, including many of today’s leading-edge military programs. The company’s services include mathematical and software modeling of aircraft and sensor systems. ATSIM, Inc., works closely with top manufacturers to deliver superior training devices to the military and commercial airlines.

In recognition of his notable professional achievements and contributions to society, Geib was presented the Penn State Alumni Fellow Award in 2005. The award, administered in cooperation with each of Penn State’s colleges, is the most prestigious honor bestowed by the Penn State Alumni Association. The Board of Trustees has designated the title of Alumni Fellow as permanent and lifelong.

Geib attended Penn State’s Altoona and University Park campuses before leaving college to begin a career in flight simulation. His desire to earn his diploma led him back to the math department in Penn State’s Eberly College of Science.
