Pushing for Peace

The local chapter of the Save Darfur Coalition is gaining momentum in Blair County thanks to Lee Ann De Reus, associate professor of human development and family studies and women’s studies, and Penn State Altoona graduate Wendy Hartman, who started the chapter. More than eighty people of all ages, races, and religions from around the county are involved.

The group has made presentations and held fundraisers, implemented an anti-genocide chapter in the Altoona High School, and helped organize Students for Darfur: Save Darfur Day at Bishop Guilfoyle High School in Altoona.

New members are welcome. Find out more by contacting savedarfurcentralpa@yahoo.com, or visit www.SaveDarfur.org and enter 16648 in the zip code box to join the chapter.
