Ivy Leaf - Winter 2008
Penn State Altoona took part in the nineteenth annual national African American Read-In Chain at the beginning of February. The read-in is endorsed by the International Reading Association and is designed to make the celebration of African American literacy a traditional part of Black History Month activities.
A community dinner included readings of African American literature by Penn State Altoona students, faculty, and staff, and community members. The campus also held an all-day Open Mic Read-In in the Slep Student Center. Faith Adiele, the featured author for this year’s African American Read-In, was in attendance and gave readings of her work.
