Will Talk Politics for Applause
Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist, best-selling author, television commentator, and Newsweek essayist George F. Will brought his political punditry and humor to campus in November as the inaugural speaker for the new Penn State Altoona Speaker Series.
Addressing a crowd of more than 300, Will talked about a variety of topics including healthcare, the economy, war, and the 2008 presidential election. Will is the author of a number of books, including two best-selling books on the sport of baseball. As if to reinforce his love of the game, Will’s cell phone rang during his speech and he confessed to the audience that his ringtone was that of his favorite team, the Chicago Cubs. Will also answered questions from the audience and signed his books after his presentation.
Proceeds from the event went to the Penn State Altoona Future Fund which provides money for programs that enrich academic and cultural life.
