Hitting the pavement
The Penn State Altoona men's soccer team laced up their sneakers and hit the pavement to help children with dyslexia. The entire team, consisting of twenty-eight students, plus coaches and family members, participated in the three-mile walk held in Altoona in late August.
The fundraiser was developed by the 32° Masonic Learning Centers for Children, Inc., in Massachusetts. Money raised from the walk helps the center provide one-on-one tutoring for dyslexic children in fifteen states. Currently, more than 1,200 children from kindergarten through high school are receiving tutoring through the program.
