Theatre program to hold auditions for "Spring Awakening" Nov. 27 and 28
Penn State Altoona's theatre program will hold auditions for the spring 2013 production of the musical Spring Awakening November 27 and 28, 2012 from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. in the Paul R. and Margery Wolf Kuhn Theatre of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. Open auditions will be held Tuesday, November 27 with dance auditions set for Wednesday, November 28. All auditionees must attend both audition sessions. For the open auditions, auditionees are asked to prepare 16 bars from two contrasting songs - one rock and one lyrical. Perusal scripts are available in room 108 of the Misciagna Family Center.
Based on the controversial play by Frank Wedekind and set in late 19th century Germany, Spring Awakening is a ground-breaking rock musical that tells the story of teenagers discovering the inner and outer tumult of sexuality. The show will be directed by Bryce Britton, instructor in theatre arts, with choreography by KT Huckabee, assistant professor of integrative arts and dance, and music direction by Bonnie Cutsforth-Huber, assistant professor of music.
