Penn State Altoona hosts events for Women's History Month
Penn State Altoona will host several events throuhgout the month of March in commemoration of Women's History Month 2014.
An open forum titled "Women's Art and the Social Justice Project" will be held Tuesday, March 18 from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. in the Fireside Lounge of the Slep Student Center. The event will feature Nancy Youdelman of California State University, Fresno and Karen Keifer-Boyd of Penn State's School of Visual Arts. On Thursday, March 20, a panel discussion titled "Women in Academia" will be held in the Titelman Study of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts from 12:10 - 1:10 p.m. The panel will feature Penn State Altoona faculty members Julia Hudson-Richards, Karyn McKinney, and Kim Menard.
Carlos Ruiz, instructor in theatre arts, will present "The Price of Beauty: Eyeing Barbie, GI Joe and Mona Lisa" on Monday, March 24 from noon - 1:30 p.m. in rooms 101-103 of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts.
On Tuesday, March 25, a showing of the film The Color Purple will be held in rooms 101-103 of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts at 4:30 p.m. The event is being organized by Megan Simpson, associate professor of English and women's studies.
A panel discussion titled "Women and the Study Abroad Experience" will be held on Monday, March 31 from 12:10 - 1:10 p.m. in the Titelman Study of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. The panel will feature Roselyn Costantino, Beth Seymour, Heidi Stetts, Renee Fisher, and Coralie McEachron.
