Penn State Altoona to present "Bob: A Life in Five Acts"
ALTOONA – Penn State Altoona’s fall production, Bob: A Life in Five Acts, will run November 13 – 16 in the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with matinées Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 regular admission. Ages 12 and under are free.
Born in a White Castle bathroom and abruptly abandoned by his mother, Bob believes he is destined for greatness. His subsequent journey and search for the great accomplishment that he feels must be inevitable leads him across America. His travels bring him in contact with a wide array of characters, all of whom add to Bob’s understanding of life and the world.
Instructor in Theatre Arts, Mo Stroemel, is directing. “The manifestation of a human’s ‘greatness’ is rarely tangible. Rather it is the sum of their relationships and how those relationships change the world one meeting at a time,” says Stroemel. “That’s the true tale here and one we hope to convey. And of course we hope you’ll have some fun as you come along for the ride. Expect a fast-paced romp across America with some of the quirkiest characters you’ve never met.”
Set design is by instructor in theatre arts Carlos Ruiz, costumes are designed by Julie Piotti, and soundscape is by Brendan Jesus, a junior integrative arts major with an emphasis in theatre. Guest lighting designer, Scott Olinger, joins the crew from Cornell College.
Tickets may be purchased at the box office in the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts, Monday – Thursday. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and before and during all performances. For more information, call the box Office at 814-949-5452.
