Penn State Altoona to host spring business and engineering student showcase
ALTOONA – Penn State Altoona's Division of Business & Engineering, the Altoona Blair County Development Corporation, the Blair County Chamber of Commerce, and title sponsor Seltzer Financial Strategies, LLC are pleased to announce the spring 2015 student showcase, Friday, May 1 at the Devorris Downtown Center in downtown Altoona.
From 9 a.m. – 3:45 p.m., the Blair County business community, parents, and friends may stop in to see how classroom instruction has helped students enhance many Blair County organizations’ operations, products, and services. Students will make presentations in the areas of business, rail transportation engineering, electro-mechanical engineering technology, and security and risk analysis. The final round of the Pechter Business Plan Competition will also take place in which cash prizes will be awarded to students. From 2 – 4 p.m. there will be EMET demonstrations in and around the Force Advanced Technology Center on the Ivyside Park campus.

Ivyside Dance Ensemble

Penn State Altoona’s student dance company offers spring showcase
ALTOONA – Penn State Altoona’s Ivyside Dance Ensemble will perform April 30 – May 1, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. in the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. Tickets are $5 for Penn State Altoona students and $7 general admission. Children under 12 are free.
The twenty student dancers of the Ensemble will perform new work by faculty and student choreographers. Several members of the spring graduating class, all of whom are in their eighth semester with the company, are featured. Director Caitlin Osborne states, “These dancers have built an amazing company over their years in our program. They have all contributed so much, and we will miss them terribly. But, they will be going out with a bang and showing the campus community what they are capable of.”
Faculty choreographers, Caitlin Osborne, KT Huckabee, and Bethany Miller contribute tap, modern, jazz, ballet, and musical theatre styles to the show. Danielle Johnson, senior in the integrative arts program, will also have a second showing of her senior project, “Illumination,” as part of the performance.
