Clarissa Barton, a freshman at Penn State Altoona, is 1 of 10 University students to receive a 2012 Farm Show scholarship from the Pennsylvania State Farm Show Scholarship Foundation on January 10. The foundation awards scholarships to young people enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution who have exhibited livestock at the Farm Show. Students must exhibit leadership qualities and excellent academic performance to be chosen for a scholarship.

Since 2005, the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences has contributed additional scholarship money to students in good standing in the college who receive Farm Show scholarships. The amount of this year's scholarship is $3,500, and the University will add $2,000, bringing the total to $5,500.

Barton, of Bedford, PA, is studying animal sciences.
