Monday, February 6, 2012 - 997 hits

Penn State Altoona's Women’s Studies program will welcome Chloe Angyal March 13, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Edith Davis Eve Chapel.

Angyal is editor of Feministing, an online blogging community that aims to give young women the opportunity to speak on their own behalf about issues that affect their lives and futures. Feministing draws attention to issues that are under-covered in mainstream media, analyzes pop culture, media, and advertising through a feminist lens, pushes elected officials and media gatekeepers to be more accountable, and highlights social justice activism.

Angyal’s freelance writing has been published in The Atlantic, The Guardian, Slate, Salon, GOOD Magazine, and The Christian Science Monitor. She is a Ph.D candidate at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. She is currently writing her doctoral thesis about how Hollywood comedies depict gender, sex and love, and is working on a book on the same subject.
