Penn State Altoona women’s bowling hosts the 2012 Pennsylvania State Women’s Bowling Championship this Saturday and Sunday, February 25 and 26, at Holiday Bowl in Altoona.
The competition features five Pennsylvania-based collegiate varsity women’s bowling teams: Penn State Altoona, Cheyney University, Kutztown University, Lincoln University, and Saint Francis University.
This weekend marks the first time that the Lady Lions’ bowling program, in its third year of existence, will host the event.
Saturday’s competition begins at 9:45 a.m. and will feature five rounds of traditional style team match play. At the end of the day, the teams will be ranked in order of total pinfall and seeded into a bracket for the next day.
The teams start at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday and bowl three rounds of best-of-seven baker format matches, following the bracket based on the previous day’s standings.
At the conclusion of the competition, an awards ceremony will recognize the top two teams and name an All-Tournament squad of the top five individual bowlers from the event.
