Tuesday, February 28, 2012 - 889 hits

Penn State Altoona will host Kemba Smith Pradia, Thursday, March 15, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. in the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts.

Pradia will chronicle her spiraling descent into the world of drugs, domestic violence, and prison in "Poster Child: The Kemba Smith Story." Often labeled "the poster child" for reversing a disturbing trend of lengthy sentences for first-time, non-violent drug offenders, Pradia's story has been featured on BET, CNN, and Nightline. Pradia speaks at a variety of high schools and colleges, in the hopes that students recognize that there are consequences to their life choices. Pradia continues to develop her 501 (c) (3) organization, the Kemba Smith Foundation.

Free tickets are available at the Bookstore, at the box office, and at the door on the evening of the program.
