Bonnie Cutsforth-Huber, assistant professor of music, is this year's winner of the Emerging Leaders Award from the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). NATS is the largest organization of vocal professionals in the world. The Emerging Leaders Award is given to a teacher who has no more than ten years full-time teaching experience who has demonstrated dedication to the field of singing through excellence in teaching, scholarship, and performance. Each potential candidate must be supported by a minimum of two NATS professionals who can attest to the candidate's accomplishments.

As part of the award, Cutsforth-Huber will receive a $750 grant from NATS to attend the NATS National Conference in Orlando, Florida, this summer. There, she will have the opportunity to network and participate in masterclasses and sessions by some of the most prestigious scholars, teachers, and professional performers in the world.
