An exhibition of work by Penn State Altoona senior, Sarah Lechner, will be on display in the Sheetz Gallery of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts April 5 - 15, 2012. A reception will be held from 3 - 5 p.m., Thursday, April 5 in the Titelman Study of the Center.
Lechner, 22, is an Altoona native. Upon graduating high school, she resolved to attend Penn State Altoona unsure of her course of study. She considers herself lucky to have met Rebecca Strzelec at orientation who guided her on her journey as a Visual Art Studies major. Lechner declares, “This program has helped me flourish as an artist and as a person.”
Speaking on the artwork for her exhibition, Lechner states, “This series of work is about nine women who have influenced my life. Now, I am not saying that these selected few are the only women who played a role into my personality. Luckily, I have been surrounded by many amazing women throughout the years. However, these are the key women who helped me become who I am today, and I wanted to display that through my artistic abilities. I wanted to give credit to these nine women because without them, I would not be a stronger person and a stronger artist. The titles of the works will reflect how each individual influenced my life.”
The galleries are open Monday – Thursday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and before and during all performances. For further information, call the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts at 814-949-5452.
