PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The 2011 Penn State Altoona men's golf team was honored by the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference on Tuesday with a Team Peak Performer Award.

The award recognizes an AMCC team in each sport with the highest cumulative grade point average. Fall sport winners, which include the Lions men's golf team, are determined by the GPA achieved at the conclusion of the Fall 2011 semester.

With a team GPA of 3.42, the Penn State Altoona men's golf team ranked first in the conference out of nine men's golf teams.

The AMCC is celebrating NCAA Division III Week, which is currently taking place, by recognizing the academic and extracurricular accomplishments of the more than 1,700 student-athletes who participate in the conference's championship sports.
