Emerging Writer in Residence to present reading

Penn State Altoona's Emerging Writer in Residence, Caitlin Doyle, will present a reading at 7 pm, Tuesday, October 9, in the Slep Student Center. She will read from her manuscript of poems.

Doyle's poetry has appeared in The Atlantic, The Threepenny Review, The Boston Review, Black Warrior Review, and Best New Poets 2009, among others. She has served as Writer In Residence at St. Albans School in Washington, D.C., and the Jack Kerouac House Writer In Residence in Orlando, FL. Her honors include an Amy Award through Poets & Writers, a Tennessee Williams Scholarship in Poetry at the Sewanee Writers Conference, and residency fellowships at a variety of artists' colonies, including the MacDowell Colony and the Jentel Foundation.

The Emerging Writer in Residence is an annual program through the Division of Arts and Humanities. The English Department conducts a national search each year for a writer at the beginning of his or her career. One emerging author is selected and invited to teach creative writing while sharing new energy and ideas with faculty and the Penn State writing community. Previous Writers in Residence include Patrick Rosal, Deborah Bernhardt, and Lee Peterson.
