Downtown Traffic and Transportation Changes: October 4, 2012

Due to the Penn State Altoona homecoming parade on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in downtown Altoona, please note the following changes for this date:

-- Chestnut Avenue from 11th Street to 8th Street will be closed at approximately 5:00 p.m. Traffic will be re-routed to Howard Avenue and to 13th Avenue to pass through the downtown area. Please note that the immediate area surrounding the Sheetz Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence (SCEE) will be affected.

-- There will be access to the Blue Lot (behind SCEE) from 10th Avenue (PRR Expressway) via 13th Street. Vehicles will be able to leave the Blue Lot via 15th Street during the parade.

-- Entering or exiting the Altoona Parking Authority Parking Garage at 11th Avenue and 13th Street will not be possible during the parade.

-- Parking in the Yellow and Red Lots along 12th Avenue will not be affected.

-- Access to Aaron and the Devorris Downtown Center will not be effected.

-- Bus service should not be affected.
