Four students from Penn State Altoona’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Team delivered the keynote address at the annual Association for Human Resources Management in International Organizations’ conference in Vienna this past September. Along with Chancellor Lori J. Bechtel Wherry and SIFE Advisor Cynthia Wood, students Jenny Wilde, Leila Farzam, Brittany Gill and Angie De Izaguirre showcased four of their community service projects.
Three of the projects, New Beginnings, Turtle Books, and Go Green, are based in Blair County. The fourth, Beza Kids, is located in Rwanda. The team highlighted the impact of the students’ efforts on individuals and communities, and discussed how their experience with these programs continues to inspire their commitment to serving others.
The four students were selected based upon applications and an interview process with Wood. The Altoona team was invited to deliver the keynote address as representatives of SIFE, an organization that includes 1,600 teams in thirty-nine countries.
While at the conference, students attended breakout sessions and networked with leaders of organizations such as the United Nations, the World Bank, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, and the International Monetary Fund.
