Jabbeh Welsley to present reading for University's Institute of Arts and Humanities

Patricia Jabbeh Wesley, associate professor of English and Penn State's Institute of Arts and Humanities fall 2012 Resident Scholar/Artist, will present a reading for the IAH from “A Place Called Home: Memoirs of a Poet in the Liberian Civil War.”

The memoir recounts how Jabbeh Wesley and her family survived two years of the brutal civil war that ravaged Liberia from 1989 to 2003. Jabbeh Wesley describes living in the Monrovia, Liberia, during the war and her family's flight from their home, their life on the run often fleeing under bombings and battle, living in refugee displaced centers, and finally, their subsequent flight to America.

The reading will take place November 6, 2012, from noon - 1:30 p.m. in 7 A Sparks Building, University Park.
