Veteran's Day Parade to affect downtown parking

The Altoona Veterans Day Parade will be take place on Monday, November 12, 2012 beginning at 10:00 a.m. The parade will start at 9th Avenue and 17th Street and proceed over the 17th Street bridge to 12th Avenue. It will then travel along 12th Avenue to 12th Street, where it will turn onto 12th Street and travel to 11th Avenue. After turning onto 11th Avenue, the parade will go to 15th Street where it will end.

Penn State Altoona students, faculty, and staff will not be able to access 12th Avenue or 11th Avenue during the parade. The Blue Lot will be accessible from the PRR Expressway at 13th Street and the Yellow Lot will be accessible from 13th Avenue and 15th Street. The parking garage at 13th Street and 11th Avenue will not be accessible during the parade. Everyone should be advised to allow for extra time to find parking downtown and be prepared for traffic disruptions.
