Engineering student selected to participate in PA undergraduate research conference

Steven Niemkiewicz, an electro-mechanical engineering technology major at Penn State Altoona, has been selected to participate in the Undergraduate Research at the Capitol – Pennsylvania event on March 19. Niemkiewicz is 1 of 8 students chosen from Pennsylvania State University campuses.

Niemkiewicz will present his poster, Multiscale Modeling of Fracture in Barium Titanate, during the event. His undergraduate research is carried out under faculty adviser James Chen, assistant professor of mechanical engineering and materials science.

Undergraduate Research at the Capitol - Pennsylvania is a poster conference that showcases outstanding and award-winning projects by undergraduate students from all across Pennsylvania. The event provides an opportunity to bring together college students, faculty, and Pennsylvania legislators and staff to share the experiences of students engaged in scholarship and creative endeavors at their colleges and universities.
