Thursday, March 21, 2013 - 699 hits

All Penn State Altoona students are invited to take part in Project Hope.

Sponsored by the Health Advisory Board's Depression/Suicide Prevention committee, the project will challenge the stigma of mental illness and convey the message that it is treatable. Students can submit original short essays, poems, photographs, and other artwork focused on the treatment and prevention of depression and suicide.

Submissions will be judged by a panel of students, faculty, and administrators based on content and creativity. The winner will be awarded $250. The winning entry along with the top ten submissions will be displayed in the Slep Student Center.

The deadline for submissions is March 30.

All creative writing material can be submitted via email to jlp42@psu.edu. Paintings and other creative works should be submitted as digital photographs initially with no more than three photos of the same object. If such work is selected for further consideration, the committee will request the applicant present the physical artwork for further review.

Please remove any information identifying anyone other the author or the artist from your submissions. For essays and other writing material confidentiality can be achieved by assigning fictional names to people and places.
