Jim Daniels to present stories and poems about the American working class

Jim Daniels will present a reading from his selections of stories and poems about working class people in America on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Edith Davis Eve Chapel on the Penn State Altoona campus.

Daniels is a poet and short story writer with more than 20 books to his credit. A professor of creative writing at Carnegie Mellon University, Daniels grew up in and around Detroit and many of his poems and stories chronicle that landscape. He has won the Brittingham Prize for Poetry, two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, and two from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. His poems have appeared in the Pushcart Prize and Best American Poetry anthologies. As a teacher he has won the Ryan Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Elliott Dunlap Smith Award for Teaching and Educational Service.

The event is sponsored by the Penn State Altoona English Program and is free and open to the public.
