Dr. Jutta Gsoels-Lorensen, associate professor of German, English, and comparative literature, and Dr. Sandy Petrulionis, professor of English and American studies, joined scholars from nine countries at a recent conference on "International Cross-Currents: Women's (Net-)Works across Europe and the Americas (1776-1939)," held from December 5-7 at Martin-Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg, Germany. Gsoels-Lorensen gave the opening keynote address, "The Lady Vanishes: Mountain Movies, Gender and a German-American Immigration Story"; and Petrulionis, a co-organizer of the event, delivered a paper about her research on Mary Moody Emerson's journals.
