African American Read-in Monday Marathon set for Feb. 24

Penn State Altoona will continue its commemoration of twenty-fifth annual National African American Read-In Chain with the Monday Marathon on Monday, February 24, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. in the Pond View Lounge of the Slep Student Center.

The Monday Marathon is an Open Mic Read-In. The event will feature readings and various dance, theatre, and musical performances celebrating African-American authors and artists. Special sessions on black women writers, African American spirituals, and a tribute to the late poet and playwright Amiri Baraka will be held.

A keynote presentation by Ronnie Burrage titled "Jazz, Hip Hop, and Poetry” will take place from noon – 1:00 p.m. For more information about Burrage's presentation, visit www.altoona.psu.edu/now/news.php?value=4469 online.
