Fisher is AMCC Men's Swimmer of the Week

Penn State Altoona sophomore Alex Fisher (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Men's Swimmer of the Week on Monday following his standout performance in last week's conference championships.

Fisher won the Men's High Point Award on Saturday at the conclusion of the three-day AMCC Championships at Grove City College. The sophomore won three individual events during the meet, garnering 27 points to rank first among all AMCC men's swimmers.

On Thursday, Fisher won the AMCC title for the 200 Yard IM, defeating his opponents by clocking in at 1:59.54. On Friday, he championed the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 58.69. Fisher's third victory came on Saturday, when he placed first in the 200 Yard Breaststroke by clinching a time of 2:11.71.

As a team, Penn State Altoona men's swimming placed second and posted its best-ever showing in the championships with a score of 207.

This marks the fourth time during the 2013-2014 season that Fisher has won the AMCC Men's Swimmer of the Week award.
