ALTOONA – Penn State Altoona’s Ivyside Dance Ensemble will host a panel discussion titled Approaches to the Burning Book on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 12:15 p.m. in room 101 of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. Refreshments will be provided throughout the discussion, which is free and open to the public.

The discussion will reveal the significance behind Ivyside’s spring performance "Maddening Madness," a modern ballet inspired by Ray Bradbury’s novel, Fahrenheit 451. KT Huckabee, assistant professor of integrative arts and dance, will discuss the artistic vision which led her to use this novel as inspiration for choreography. She will be joined by Todd Davis, professor of English, and Joe Petrulionis, instructor in philosophy and history, who will speak to the literary significance and philosophical implications of Ray Bradbury’s work, both during the 1950’s and today.

Plan to remain at the end of the presentations for open-ended questions and further discussion.
