Kofi Adu, assistant professor of physics, earned his doctorate at Penn State. He previously served as an adjunct professor of physics at the ITT Technology Institute campus in Oxnard, California. An experimental condensed matter physicist with expertise in engineering advanced nanomaterials, Adu's research involves three major prongs: the chemical processing and functionalization of carbon nanotubes; the development of next generation advanced super metal (nanostructure-metal matrix composites) that are lightweight with superior properties; and carbon nanotube transparent conductors for touch-screen and flat-panel display applications.

Dr. Sohail Anwar is an Associate Professor of Engineering at the Altoona College of The Pennsylvania State University. In addition, he is a Professional Associate of the Management Development Programs and Services at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park. Dr. Anwar has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the "Journal of Engineering Technology." He is currently serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the "International Journal of Modern Engineering" and the "Encyclopedia of Energy Engineering & Technology." In addition, he is serving as the Series Editor of the "Nanotechnology and Energy Series," Taylor and Francis Group/CRC Press.

Dr. Arter is an assistant professor of criminal justice at Penn State Altoona. He joined the criminal justice faculty after receiving his doctorate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2005. Dr. Arter had an 18-year career in law enforcement prior to his return to the academic setting. His teaching and research interests focus on law enforcement, drugs and drugs policies, police stress, ethics, police mentoring, and criminological theory.

Yolanda Avent, Director of Institutional Equity
and Diversity, joins us from Virginia Tech,
where she most recently served as research assistant in the office of academic assessment.
In addition to that experience, Yolanda
served as assistant coordinator of residence life, as
a graduate assistant under Project ESTEEM, and
served in a research fellowship with the National
Science Foundation while at Virginia Tech. Yolanda
has also served as the coordinator of student life
at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in
Virginia and as the coordinator of the Multicultural
Student Center at Georgia Southern University.
She has served graduate assistantships in minority
affairs and the School of Education at Armstrong
Atlantic State University. Yolanda is also currently completing her PhD in Educational Psychology.
