International Student Orientation

The Office of International and Exchange Student Services at Penn State Altoona will be holding orientation for all newly-admitted international students on Monday, August 20, 2012. Orientation is designed to help new students adjust to the campus culture, the local community, and life in the United States. Students should plan to arrive on campus no later than Monday, August 20, 2012 as FTCAP is scheduled to begin at 8:15 a.m. and will end by approximately 1:00 p.m. Immediately following this session, the orientation will continue in the Slep Student Center TV Lounge with Ms. Yolanda Avent, Director of International and Exchange Student Services. As a new student at Penn State Altoona, these sessions will cover:

Government regulations as they apply to international students;
Student health and mandatory insurance;
Academic resources;
Financial and registration information;
The higher education system in the United States;
Banking in the United States;
Discipline policies and procedures at Penn State;
Life in Altoona;
And much more.
