This year the club celebrates their 10 Year Anniversary as a recognized and competing club sport. In addition, the team and coaching staff look forward to a season in which the goal is to reach national competition. Established in 2002, the Penn State Altoona Club Ice Hockey competes in the College Hockey East (CHE), a collegiate club sports hockey league comprised of colleges and universities from the western Pennsylvania and surrounding areas. The goal of CHE is to offer a competitive league of collegiate hockey teams that provides standards, structure, regulates operation, and promotes sportsmanship on and off the ice. The Penn State Altoona Club Hockey Team is also a member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). The partnership CHE has with the ACHA allows our member teams the opportunity to compete for a national championship while maintaining nationally established standards for players and teams. In addition to success on the ice, Penn State Altoona Club Ice Hockey takes great pride in their achievements off the ice and in the community. The team has volunteered and joined forces to fundraise for many great causes in the Altoona area. These acts of kindness by the team included: Waly 104 Warmth, Safe Trick or Treat, and Sitting Bulls sled team fundraiser. This year the team is raising money for Breast Cancer Awareness during the months of October to January. The club practices and competes in the Galactic Ice Complex.
