Club Sports

"For students, by the power of the students"

This is more than a slogan for Penn State Altoona club sport organizations – it is the main philosophy shared with other Penn State campuses. Club sport organizations are first and foremost student run organizations and are open to all students regardless of ability or skill level.

A club sport is a registered student organization formed by individuals with a common interest in a sport and/or recreational activity that exists to promote and meet regularly to pursue and develop interest within a defined scope. Currently Penn State Altoona offers eight different student run club sport organizations which include: Ice Hockey, Men’s Volleyball, Dance Team, Ultimate Frisbee, Men’s Lacrosse, Wrestling, Cheerleading, and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

The club sports program at Penn State Altoona provides a variety of opportunities for Penn State Altoona students, faculty, and staff to learn a new sport, make friends, keep fit, and for full-time students the ability to compete against other university clubs or varsity teams. Club sport organizations meet regularly for practices, demonstrations, clinics, seminars, social activities, and may compete in regional and national conferences and/or championships.
