Timeline of Events

Year 1

  • Student becomes Sheetz Fellow Aspirant
    • Student indicates his/her desire to become a Sheetz Fellow Aspirant
  • Aspirant should enroll in ENTR 497
    • The ENTR 497 class is designed to create community among aspirants
    • Listed below are a few examples of activities/projects that would take place during class:
      • Networking reception
      • Business etiquette dinner
    • Aspirant will be entered into database for tracking purposes
  • Sheetz reception
    • An introduction to Steve and Nancy Sheetz and the Sheetz Corporation leadership team.
    • An outline of the Sheetz Fellows Program including the following:
      • Leadership development
      • Enrichment award
      • Application process
    • A tour of Sheetz Brothers Kitchen and Bakery

Year 2

  • Aspirant should enroll in ENTR 497
  • Aspirant must attend one Speakers Series event
  • Aspirant must attend one Distinguished Speakers Series event with an entrepreneurial focus
  • Aspirant must attend a minimum of two Entrepreneur in Residence forums
  • Aspirant should apply for admittance into Sheetz Fellows program concurrent with Entrance to Major (February)
    • Sheetz Fellows application packet should be completed and submitted to Entrepreneurship Program Director
    • Aspirant will be interviewed by the Sheetz Fellows Advisory Board as part of the application process
  • Aspirants are accepted into the Sheetz Fellows Program through an induction ceremony
    • A letter of acceptance from Steve and Nancy Sheetz, the Chancellor, and Entrepreneurship Program Director.

Year 3

  • Aspirant should enroll in ENTR 497
  • Fellow must attend a Sheetz Executive Committee meeting
  • Fellow must attend the Student Benefactor Award Dinner
  • Fellow must attend the Ivyside Society Event
  • Fellow must attend an entrepreneurship conference (approx. cost $1000)
    • National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance
    • United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship
    • Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization
  • Fellow must attend mentor reception (April 2013)
    • Fellow is assigned a mentor following the mentor reception
  • Fellow may be awarded up to $2500 during their Junior or Senior year for study abroad, creative research, or an internship opportunity (one time award)
    • The Sheetz Fellows Enrichment Application should be completed and submitted to Entrepreneurship Program Director
  • Fellow will participate with reverse on-line auction at Sheetz
  • Fellow will spend a day with a Sheetz District Manager
  • Fellow must complete a one-year service commitment, whether this is in the Penn State/Altoona community or the global community.

Year 4

  • Aspirant should enroll in ENTR 497
  • Fellow will attend a Sheetz new product development session
  • Fellow will attend a Rotary or other civic organization meeting with his/her mentor
  • Fellow will job-shadow with his/her mentor
  • Fellow will complete a specific project with his/her mentor
  • Fellow will meet at least once monthly with mentor to aid in the Fellow's professional development, i.e., leadership, communication skills, interpersonal skills
