ATHLETIC NEWSDeSteffano's Hat Trick Leads Lions to WinTuesday, September 22, 2009
Just because a player doesn't start a game doesn't mean he or she can't make a major impact on it. Joe DeSteffano (Solebury, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) came off the bench to score the first three goals for Penn State Altoona men's soccer, leading the Lions to a 4-1 road victory over Rosemont College on Monday. DeSteffano put a corner kick in the back of the net at the 27:32 mark of the first half to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. 14 minutes later, he struck again from the left side to give Penn State Altoona a 2-0 advantage. Rosemont made it a 2-1 game when Patrick McElroy scored shortly before halftime, but DeSteffano answered back late in the second half by tallying his third goal of the game. Matthew Hanser (Rutledge, Pa./Strath Haven) added a goal two minutes later to give Penn State Altoona a 4-1 lead. MORE INFORMATION...
