2/25/2011 — ALTOONA, Pa. - In their first home competition of the season, the Penn State Altoona women's bowling team defeated Salem International University 2-0 on Thursday afternoon at Pleasant Valley Bowl. In the first event, a five-person team game based on total pinfall, the Lady Lions won 813-487. Shannel Ashby (Philadelphia, PA/Science Leadership Academy) bowled a team-high 217 in the game. Toni Watt (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) scored a 165, and Brittany Ayers (Altoona, PA/Altoona) added a 160. Kathleen Steele (Mechanicsburg, PA/Trinity) and Christina Lehman (Altoona, PA/Altoona) contributed scores of 152 and 119, respectively. In the second event, a baker system best-of-seven, Penn State Altoona swept Salem International in four games by scores of 195-126, 157-140, 137-135 and 147-117.
