Men's Golf Places Third at AMCC Championship


WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona men's golf team came in third place in the 2011 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship played on Sunday and Monday at Oak Tree Country Club.

Penn State Behrend won the event, shooting 600 as a team. La Roche College came in second with 617, followed by Penn State Altoona with 627.

Wes Elder (Roaring Spring, PA/Martinsburg Central) was the top golfer for the Lions, shooting a 77 on both Sunday and Monday to finish with a combined score of 154 -- good for 10th place individually out of 45 competitors.

Chris Perry (Altoona, PA/Altoona) tied for 11th place, firing 155 over Sunday and Monday.

Landon Hollenshead (Mercersburg, PA/James Buchanan) came in 14th with a 159.

Tom Trexler (Bellwood, PA/Bellwood-Antis) and Brock Dillon (Roaring Spring, PA/Martinsburg Central) tied each other for 15th place by both shooting a 161.
