Men's and Women's Cross Country Competes at Hood Open

Men's and Women's Cross Country Competes at Hood Open

THURMONT, Md. - The Penn State Altoona men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Hood College Open on Saturday at Utica Park. The men's squad placed sixth out of nine teams in the 8K, while the women took fourth place out of seven teams in the 6K.


For the men's team, Chaz Ramos (Freeport, NY/Freeport) finished 14th with a time of 29:51 to lead the men's team.


Michael Lock (Juniata, PA/Juniata) finished 22nd with a time of 30:56.


The women's team had a pair of runners in the top 20.


Kristen Cummings (Pittsburgh, PA/Brentwood) and Melissa Scandrol (South Park, PA/South Park) took 14th and 15th places, respectively, and were separated by just four tenths of a second.


Cummings finished in 28:08.3, while Scandrol's time was 28:08.7.
